Lonely Cairn

Mackinac Island, MI

Photo taken June 22, 2018

I saw several of these cairns around the island.  Traditionally, these were meant for wayfinding, landmarks, or memorials.  I’m not sure why there were so many around the island, but they were neat to see.

All Lined Up and Nowhere to Go

Portage Point at Lake Michigan, Onekama, MI

Taken June 23, 2018

Portage Point was and is my “happy place.”  I’d come here often in the summer time to hang out and just watch the waves of Lake Michigan.  While in the area, I had to make a stop.  It was a bit chilly, but it did not diminish the beauty and memories of the place.  This group of gulls were hanging out minding their own business.

Old Mission Lighthouse, Traverse City, MI

Photo Taken June 24, 2018

I have a thing for lighthouses.  I always have.  I don’t know if it is the romance of the water, a view from above, or just the thought that it would be an interesting experience to live and work in one.  Whatever the case may be, I’m drawn to them like I am to the water in general.  This particular one sits near the tip of the Old Mission Peninsula stretching into Grand Traverse Bay.

Pierce Stocking Scenic Drive, Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore, Empire MI

Welcome to Covered Bridge Photography!  I’m a (very) amateur photographer, and I’m taking this opportunity to showcase some of my work.  I chose the name Covered Bridge because I live near one (not the one pictured above) and it just came to mind as a good name.  I hope you enjoy!
